One of the neater ideas to come across the desk is this new packaging for bulk .22 LR ammunition from Federal. Given that rimfire ammunition has been unobtanium for quite some time, some shooters are holding onto their .22 LR stashes longer. The standard packaging, a standard cardboard box, is prone to damage and offers no resistance to the elements should water in any of its insidious forms be encountered.

Enter the "Fresh Fire" pack from Federal, which is 325 rounds of .22 LR in a nitrogen-sealed can. The rounds are protected from corrosion, damage or any other hazard that might befall such a precious commodity in long(ish) term storage. Best of all, the cans are designed to stack, so if by some miracle you were able to secure several cans, they can securely be placed in a single tower to await disposition. A pop-top similar to canned goods, complete with a tab, keeps everything in place, and a plastic cover similar to a coffee-can lid keeps things in place once opened.

Whether you're squirreling away ammunition for a rainy day, building up supplies for training or just happen across a good deal (like you find some in stock), the Fresh Fire packaging will keep your stash safe. The Federal Champion 36-grain copper-plated ammunition is excellent fodder for your favorite plinker. Federal upped the ante with clever, smart packaging. MSRP: $19.95.
