Winchester .38 Special 130-grain FMJ
Olin Winchester (Winchester) is recalling three lots of .38 Special, 130-grain FMJ centerfire ammunition for safety reasons. The affected ammo has a product code—found above the USP bar code on the back of the cartridge boxes—of USA38SPVP. The specific lot numbers covered in the recall and should not be fired, are KF21, KL30 and KM52. Those numbers are stamped inside the right tuck flap that opens the 100-round carton.
Winchester has determined these lots of .38 Spl. ammunition may contain incorrect powder charges. Cartridges with excessive powder charges may cause firearm damage, rendering it inoperable and subjecting the shooter and bystanders to risk of serious personal injury or death.
To determine if your ammunition is subject to this notice, review the symbol and lot number. If it is symbol USA38SPVP with lot number KF21, KL30 or KM52 immediately discontinue use and contact Winchester by calling toll-free (844) 653-8358. Free UPS pick-up of the recalled ammunition will be arranged.
The recall only applies only to those specific lot numbers with the noted product/symbol code. Others are not subject to the recall and are safe for use. More details on the recall are available on the company website.
