Consumers have quickly learned to trust the threat-stopping performance PDX1 Defender ammunition and in 2012, Winchester continues to innovate with the addition of the Segmenting Slug to the PDX1 Defender line. The uniquely designed slug segments into three pieces when fired into FBI protocol barriers such as bare, light cloth and heavy cloth covered ballistic gelatin.
"Personal defense situations mean that lives are on the line and we want to continue to provide effective ammunition to responsible gun owners," said Brett Flaugher, Winchester Ammunition vice president of marketing and sales. "The addition of the Segmenting Slug to the PDX1 Defender line cements Winchester as an industry leader in ammunition for personal defense."
The PDX1 Defender Segmenting Slug combines all of the advantages of a slug and buckshot, while eliminating the need for two different rounds. This greatly simplifies the shotgun platform, allowing one round to be used for all situations. The round is designed to compensate for aim error over traditional slugs. Upon impact, the slug segments into three equal projectiles – delivering greater knock-down power than traditional buck shot loads, improving aim error and reducing the chance of stray projectiles in confined spaces.
