Streamlight recently renewed its sponsorship of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), an organization dedicated to helping the survivors of fallen officers. For 18 years the company has helped the non-profit, and in 2017 alone its total contribution was $129,700.

C.O.P.S. was organized in 1984. Its website explains, “Each year, between 140 and 160 officers are killed in the line of duty and their families and co-workers are left to cope with the tragic loss.  C.O.P.S. provides resources to help them rebuild their shattered lives.” The recent ambush and death of two officers on Florida is a frightening reminder of the dangers faced every day by those who “protect and serve.”

Streamlight earmarks $1 from the sale of each Blue Nano light to C.O.P.S. and another $2 from the sale of every Blue Siege AA lantern. In addition, it holds events throughout the years to raise money, and in 2017 they include a fun walk and underwriting a portion of May’s National Police Week events in Washington, DC. It also provides financial support to the C.O.P.S. Kids Camp and C.O.P.S. Outward Bound.

C.O.P.S. programs include scholarships for surviving family members, counseling programs, retreats for relatives of the deceased and coworkers, help in securing benefits and much more. It has more than 50 chapters, nationwide and also, “…offers training and assistance to law enforcement agencies nationwide on how to respond to the tragic loss of a member of the law enforcement profession.”

“Streamlight could not be more proud to support C.O.P.S.’ important work helping survivors of the fallen rebuild their lives,” said Streamlight President and Chief Executive Officer Ray Sharrah. “As the lighting tool brand of choice by first responders, we are committed to ‘giving back’ to the law enforcement community. We are very proud to assist this fine organization.”
