Springfield Armory Offers 9 mm EMP 1911 in Black Kote

Springfield Armory introduced a new model to its 1911 EMP line: the 9 mm EMP Black. The new EMP Black features an all-black finish with an Armory Kote slide and a fiber-optic front sight.

The EMP 1911 was introduced in 2007 as a new compact 1911 with a redesigned action and a shorter frame. The EMP action is 1/8 inch shorter than the action found on a Government-style 1911. This gives shooters a shorter grip radius, and Springfield Armory claims that the reduced dimensions work to increase reliability.

The reduced size of the gun also makes it a candidate for concealed carry. The total height of the EMP Black is 5 inches, while the total length is 6.6 inches. The gun features a 3-inch stainless-steel barrel and weighs in at only 27 ounces with an empty magazine. Other features include a dual-recoil spring with a full-length guide rod and double-diamond Cocobolo wood grips.

The 1911 EMP 9 mm Black comes with three 9-round magazines. The suggested retail price on the EMP Black is $1,104.
