The joint Nordic Police has selected Speer 124-grain Gold Dot for its duty pistol ammunition. Under terms of the contract, the company will provide 9 mm cartridges to law enforcement agencies in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden for up to seven years.

“We have a long history with these customers, and we are extremely pleased with the renewal of this prestigious contract,” said Speer’s vice president of law enforcement, government and international sales David Leis. “This contract validates the high trust that international law enforcement agencies have with our extremely reliable and innovative product. Regarding dependability and terminal ballistics, Speer is the gold standard, and we are proud to continue to supply them with exceptional ammunition.”

The selected duty rounds utilize Speer Gold Dot technology, renowned for self-defense and duty performance. The bullet features a pressure-formed lead core bonded to an extremely uniform jacket, to virtually eliminate separation on impact for more retained weight and consistent penetration. The Gold Dot hollow-point design expands consistently through a full range of barriers. Reliable ignition and cycling are delivered thanks to sealed primers and nickel-plated brass.

The popularity of Speer for law enforcement duty ammunition goes back decades, with Gold Dot loads being the most popular choice. In 2023, for example, the New York Police Department (NYPD)—the nation’s largest—choose the company’s 9 mm Gold Dot 124-grain loads in a five-year contract.

Announcement of the agreement with Nordic came only two weeks after U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) awarded Speer with a contract to provide it with Gold Dot Tipped rifle ammunition in .308 Win. CBP is one of the world’s largest law enforcement agencies. Value of the CBP contract has a ceiling of $7 million over the next five years.

Financial details with the European agencies and NYPD were not released.
