SIG Sauer Academy is offering a series of foundational handgun and rifle courses at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, TX, in October. The classes will be taught by the academy’s instructors, each with years of experience in firearms training, and defensive tactics gained from military, law enforcement and government agencies.

A handgun series runs from Oct. 10 to 14, and includes Handgun 101—a foundational, entry-level course focusing on gun safety for owners seeking familiarity and comfort with sidearms. Also offered are the 102, 103 and 104 courses, providing graduated learning experiences that go from the basics of shooting, to refining skillsets and finally, fast-paced instruction on how to survive a deadly encounter with an armed attacker.

From Oct. 25 to 28 instructional focus changes to rifles. Rifle 101 is the entry-level course geared toward modern semi-automatics and 102 is a tune-up of the skills required to run them with lifesaving proficiency. Defensive Rifle—atop the rifle’s curricula offered in the Lone Star state next month—teaches how to use that rifle or carbine at CQB close and stretch the distance, when required.

SIG Sauer Academy’s main facility, which is in Epping, NH, has also added a Covert Carry and Micro-Pistols class to its course line-up. The first one will be held there on Oct. 17.

Students who enroll will explore safe and proper concealed carry techniques, gain defensive pistol skills and engage in close proximity tactical and defensive drills for use in everyday life. They will also have the option to use a SIG Sauer P365 micro-pistol, magazines and holster provided by the academy for course use, although doing so is not required. Students will also have the opportunity to undergo a personal equipment evaluation with one of the SIG Sauer Academy instructors to optimize and personalize their covert-carry techniques.
