Low Power Variable Optics

Sightmark Presidio 1-6X

Sightmark is known for offering optics to consumers at an affordable price while maintaining quality and a lifetime warranty. This year they are introducing the Presidio 1-6X LPVO.

The Presidio is fitted with a CR1 second-focal-plane reticle in an aluminum 30mm tube. The red illuminated reticle is daylight bright and has off settings in-between each power level. The Presidio includes an integrated throw lever and capped turrets with .5 MOA adjustments. The Presidio is equipped with Sightmark’s “enhanced glass” and can be purchased with or without a quick detach or fixed mount. MSRP is $299.

Bushnell R5 1-6X

Bushnell has another lower priced option for the budget shooter. The second focal place R5 1-6X comes in at an MSRP of only $249.95. The R5 is a 1-inch tube design with capped turrets and an illuminated DDQ-2A Ballistic quick acquisition reticle. The R5 features full multi-coated lenses and is IPX-7 waterproof rated. The throw on the magnification felt very smooth and the glass has a new Exo-barrier coatings on the outer lenses. This new coating prevents dirt, dust, fingerprints, and water from sticking to the glass. The Bushnell R5 comes with a lifetime warranty.

Leupold Mark 5 HD CMR-MIL Reticle 2-10X

Leupold added to its line of Mark 5 HD LPVO’s with the new CMR-MIL Reticle 2-10X. This has been a long anticipated LPVO in the space and its finally here. This first-focal-plane scope contains a new “graded reticle” illumination technology. Leupold claims the illumination is more faceted and catches the eye better instead of a light source emitted from a single point. The illumination turret has also been updated. We can expect nothing less than excellent glass quality from the Mark 5 HD line of riflescopes, and this one is no exception. Much different than the other price-points in this category, the Leupold is a premium offering with an MSRP of $2,499.

Leapers Accushot Pro/Integrix

Leapers/UTG is showcasing LPVO’s in 2 different “tier” categories.

The Accushot Pro is the mid-tier line at an average price of $600 and has 1-6X and 1-8X offerings in first focal plane. The Integrix line is the higher-tier option, ranging between $1,000 and $1,200. Both the Accushot and Integrix are IPX-7 rated, with both red and green illumination, locking turrets and are available with optional throw levers. The build quality and DNA of these optics are very similar, except for the glass inside. The Integrix comes equipped with both German and Japanese glass in each scope, while the Accushot Pros use less expensive glass. The Integrix and Accushot Pro offerings are expected to hit the market Q2 of this year. Also, expect a second-focal-plane Integrix 1-4.5X around Q3.

Riton 5 Tactix

Riton is now featuring a sub-$1,000 1-10x LPVO called the Riton 5 Tactix. The 5 Tactix is a 30mm first-focal-plane, mil-reticle optic with daylight bright red illumination. The 5 Tactix features a patented throw-lever design that can be moved to different positions on the magnification range and comes with a high- and low-profile levers in the box. This is another all-aluminum body scope with capped turrets and very positive clicks. The MSRP of the Riton 5 Tactix is $959.99.
