KelTec had two new firearms of interest at Industry Day at the Range ahead of SHOT Show 2020, and Shooting Illustrated Associate Editor Kristen Walter had a chance to interview Chad Enos from KelTec about these new firearms. First up was the P17, a new 16-round .22 LR offering from the Cocoa, FL, based manufacturer. Designed as a mid-size pistol that new shooters and seasoned shooters alike could enjoy, the P17 has two additional features that really make it attractive: It ships with three magazines, and the MSRP is a whopping $199. That's a steal even at full price!
The second firearm is a line extension, the SUB2000 CQB. Recognizing the need for a suppressed home-defense carbine, KelTec designed the CQB as a single-stamp, integrally suppressed carbine that it expects will ship sometime late Q2/early Q3 of this year. CQB models will take Glock magazines and will have magazine-well inserts for an estimated 10 different magazine catches, meaning there is a pretty good chance that one will be available for whatever your preferred pistol magazine might be.
On the range, the P17 ran quite well and proved to be a lot of fun to shoot. The CQB offers a significant sound reduction over non-suppressed, especially when paired with subsonic 9 mm ammunition.
