Federal Premium ammunition has been awarded five-year ammunition contacts with the Danish National Police, Norwegian Police and Swedish Police Authority. Delivery of the company’s .223 Rem./5.56 NATO Tactical Bonded loads and .308 Win. Tactical Bonded Tip ammunition begins this year for duty use by the law enforcement agencies.

“Police in Norway, Sweden and Denmark will now be relying on Federal Premium in their duty rifles to keep their residents safe and protected,” Federal Premium President Jason Vanderbrink said. “We’re extremely proud of this important contract. Our Tactical Bonded ammunition was chosen for its reliability, accuracy, terminal performance and ability to defeat barriers.”

The cartridges have become a popular choice for law enforcement, worldwide. The Tactical Bonded version in .223 Rem./5.56 NATO comes with either 55- or 62-grain bonded soft-point bullets that yield muzzle velocities of 3,150 fps and 3,050 fps, respectively.

The .308 Win. Tactical Bonded Tip load is designed to minimize deflection when penetrating barriers, yet provide reliable long-distance accuracy and fight-stopping terminal performance. With its 168-grain bullet, muzzle velocity from a 24-inch barrel is 2,700 fps.

The announcement comes only weeks after Federal Premium landed a U.S. Homeland Security contact for up 180 million .40 S&W Tactical HST Duty handgun rounds. In February, the company also entered into a five-year agreement with the U.S. Navy valued at up to $20 million.

The Danish National Police oversees law enforcement duties in Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland—the three constituents of the Kingdom of Denmark (although Greenland has been self-ruled since 1979). Its staff of 14,000 patrol a diverse and divided landscape, one  that includes major metropolitan regions like Copenhagen.

More than 16,000 people work for the Norwegian police. Nearly 30,000 are employed by the Swedish National Police. Jurisdictions they protect include high-profile terrorism targets, including Oslo and Stockholm, respectively.
