Ruger announced the addition of two new models to the Mark IV lineup: the 22/45 Tactical and the Competition. These two additions bring the total number of Mark IV models up to nine, with several more line additions planned for later in 2017.
The new Mark IV 22/45 Tactical uses a polymer grip frame with rubberized grip panels that are replaceable and are designed to simulate the feel of the company's SR1911. The pistol features a 4.4-inch barrel with a 1/2-28 TPI thread pattern for suppressor use. Other features include fully adjustable sights and Picatinny rails on the top of the receiver and the bottom of the barrel to allow users to mount optics, lights, lasers and other accessories. The suggested retail price on the 22/45 Tactical is $529.
The new Mark IV Competition pistol features a grip frame machined from a solid piece of stainless steel and uses a cold-hammer-forged, slab-sided bull barrel that measures 6.88 inches in overall length. The pistol also features thumbrest competition grips made from hardwood laminate, along with adjustable target sights that are mounted on the barreled receiver for permanent sight alignment. The stainless-steel model weighs in at 45.8 ounces for added stability. The suggested retail price on the new Competition pistol is $749.
All models of the Ruger Mark IV feature one-button takedown for easy field-stripping, as well as an ambidextrous safety and a redesigned bolt stop for improved ergonomics. The Mark IV is compatible with a number of aftermarket accessories designed for the Ruger Mark III, and the company plans to add additional models to the Mark IV lineup that duplicate the most popular models available in the previous Mark III line.
