Ruger shook up the gun world last year with the introduction of the Security 9 pistol, offering a full set of features at an affordable price. Now, with the introduction of the new Ruger Security-9 Compact, Ruger is taking the quality and affordability of the Security-9 and packing it into a smaller, lighter and more-concealable pistol. The new Security-9 Compact weighs just 22 ounces, an overall length of 6.5 inches and is just over an inch wide.
The Security-9 Compact ships with two, 9mm Luger, 10-round, flush-fit steel magazines, and also included in the box is a finger grip extension floorplate for added control. 15-round magazines for the Security-9 are also available for purchase at ShopRuger.com.
The Security-9 Compact uses the same Secure Action hammer-fired action LCP series of pistols, which combines the smooth, consistent trigger pull of the LCP with the short, crisp feel and positive reset of a single-action pistol. Additional safety features on the Security-9 Compact include an integrated trigger safety, an external manual safety and a hammer catch to help prevent the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled.
The American-made Security-9 Compact has a blued, through-hardened alloy steel slide and barrel. Just like full-size Security-9, the Compact version is built around a rigid, precision-machined, hard-coat anodized aluminum chassis with full-length guide rails and features drift-adjustable sights, a textured grip frame and an easy-to-rack slide.
