New handgun models continue to fill out the Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 lineup in 2018, and one of the latest introductions from the company is the first-ever M2.0 handgun both chambered in .45 ACP and given a flat-dark-earth finish. The .45-caliber model joins other M&P M2.0 FDE handguns chambered in 9 mm and .40 S&W, giving consumers multiple finish options in three of the most-popular calibers on the market today.

Stand-out features in the .45 ACP M&P M2.0 handgun include TruGlo TFX night sights, which are with tritium-illuminated capsules that provide a bright sight picture in low-light conditions. Filled with larger .45-caliber rounds, the magazine holds 10 cartridges. The barrel length on the .45 ACP option is 4.6 inches long and features a 1:15-inch twist rate designed to optimize the performance of today's popular .45 ACP self-defense and target loads. While the frame and slide on this model are finished in flat dark earth, the gun also sports black-colored elements that accent the design. The barrel, sights, takedown lever, slide-lock lever, trigger and magazine release are all finished in black.

Like the company's other M&P handguns, the striker-fired Smith & Wesson M&P45 M2.0 FDE pistol is constructed on a unique polymer frame, newly improved from the company's original M&P lineup. The pistol features an 18-degree grip angle designed to provide a natural aiming point. User fit is also enhanced through the inclusion of four separate backstraps ranging in size from small, medium, medium-large and large. The grips are textured aggressively, ensuring that the gun anchors itself into a shooter's grip, even in damp conditions or in rapid-fire strings.

In all M&P M2.0 pistols, the company built in a stainless-steel chassis inside the polymer frame, which is purpose-built to enhance rigidity and minimize flexing during firing. The barrel and slide on all guns are treated with Smith & Wesson's trademarked Armornite finish, designed to stave off corrosion and wear and offer reduced friction on moving components. For further protection and to provide the gun's unique look, the slide is finished in an FDE Cerakote coating. The overall length of the pistol is 7.9 inches, and weight with an empty magazine comes in at 29.9 ounces.

Each Smith & Wesson M&P45 M2.0 FDE handgun is sold without a thumb safety and includes a one-year warranty and the company's lifetime service policy. The suggested retail price on the pistol is $699.
