Following the launch of its RP45, which holds an impressive 15 rounds of .45 ACP in its magazine, Remington upped the ante yet again with the launch of its all-new Model 1911 R1 Limited Double Stack handgun design. Three calibers are offered in the new model, all with impressive capacity capabilities that push the limits of what can be carried on board a handgun.

Built on a stainless-steel frame, slide and barrel, The Remington Model 1911 R1 Limited Double Stack can be had in 9 mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Fed with double-stack magazines, total capacity in the 9 mm model is 19+1, while capacity for the .40 S&W and .45 ACP models are 18+1 and 16+1, respectively. Each gun is built with a 5-inch barrel and a single-piece, full-length guide rod that aids in accuracy.

Stand-out elements found in each model in the new Limited Double Stack series includes a fiber-optic front sight that can be seen easily, even in low-light conditions, as well as an adjustable target rear sight. The slide is cut with cocking serrations at the front and rear, while the frame features checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing for enhanced grip. These textured cuts are paired with Operator grips from VZ Grips, machined from G10 fiberglass-laminate material that offer added texture.

Other features found on the new guns include an adjustable, match-grade trigger that can be set between 3.5-5 pounds, an enlarged magazine well that facilitates faster reloading, and a PVD coating that enhances corrosion- and wear-resistance. Each gun measures 8.5 inches long, 2 inches wide and 5.75 inches high. Unloaded, the gun weighs 41 ounces. The suggested retail price on the Remington Model 1911 R1 Limited Double Stack handgun starts at $1,310.
