Providing consumers with versatile, well-built options in the exploding precision-rifle market was priority No. 1 for Mossberg in 2018, and the company delivered with the launch of the new Mossberg MVP Precision Rifle.

With lessons learned from past precision-rifle projects, company engineers went back to the basics, designing an entirely new aluminum chassis from the ground up. The MVP Precision rifle uses Mossberg's all-original modular-chassis design, designed for modularity and versatility. The rifle chassis is compatible with any number of widely available AR-15 accessories, allowing for the attachment of AR rifle stocks and pistol grips. Each rifle ships with a Luth AR MBA-3 butt stock and a Magpul MOE pistol grip. Versatility is also enhanced through the company's patented magazine well, which allows for the use of any M1A or AR-10 magazine.

The chassis itself is machined from aluminum and given a hard-anodized finish for added durability. The handguard on the chassis is compatible with all M-Lok accessory attachments on the market. The heart of the accuracy-enhancing characteristics on the Mossberg MVP Precision Rifle is the use of the company's button-rifled barrel machined from 4140 carbon steel. The 6.5 Creedmoor option enhances accuracy even further with the use of 5R rifling. The barrel and receiver are both treated with a matte-blue finish.

Further enhancements came with the inclusion of the company's Lightning Bolt Action Trigger System, a user-adjustable setup that can be set anywhere from 3-7 pounds, depending on shooter preference. The trigger assembly is made from machined aluminum and features a mil-spec hard-anodized finish to resist corrosion and wear.

Other features on the gun include an enlarged trigger guard to allow for use with gloved hands, a tactical bolt handle and a top-mounted Picatinny optics rail with 20 MOA of elevation built in. Two models of the MVP Precision Rifle are available at launch, one chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and equipped with a 24-inch barrel featuring a 1:8-inch twist rate. The other rifle is chambered in .308 Win. and uses a 20-inch barrel made with a 1:10-inch twist rate.

The suggested retail price on the Mossberg MVP Precision Rifle is $1,407.
