New for 2018: Ed Brown ZEV 1911 Pistol

As part of its new lineup of handguns for 2018, Ed Brown Products teamed up with ZEV Technologies to produce a whole new handgun, with inspiration taken from both of the company's unique products and providing consumers with a 1911 outfitted with 21st technology and styling.

“We have been the authority on traditional 1911s for 50 years, and in the years to come, we intend to be the leader on new, cutting edge handguns as well," said John May, sales and marketing director for Ed Brown. "It has been a true pleasure to work with the ZEV crew, and we can’t wait to do it again."

The inspiration for the new handgun came from ZEV's Dragonfly design, and the Ed Brown ZEV 1911 provides the aggressive texturing that made the Dragonfly design popular. The pistol is built on a full-size Government frame paired with a Commander-length slide. The frame incorporates an integral accessory rail, perfect for the addition of lights and lasers.

ZEV Technology details are readily apparent in the design of the slide on the pistol, incorporating cutout ports on the top and sides of the slide. While the enhanced aesthetics of the slide cutouts are beneficial, the removal of material in the slide also lightens the overall side weight, allowing the slide to cycle faster. The open space also facilitates more-rapid barrel cooling.

Highlights on the gun include the black Alien G10 grips produced by VZ Grips, as well as an included Trijicon RMR red-dot sight mounted deep into the recessed slide. The frame also incorporates Ed Brown's unique FX1 Snakeskin texturing for enhanced grip during rapid strings of fire. The pistol also ships with a threaded barrel, ambidextrous thumb safety and extra-high night sights.

Chambered in 9 mm, the overall unloaded weight of the pistol is 40 ounces. Custom build options are also available, enabling buyers to incorporate a recessed slide stop, single-piece magazine well and a flush barrel with a recessed crown, if they choose. The Ed Brown ZEV 1911 pistol is a limited run produced for one year only. The starting price for the gun is $4,995.
