In 2018, Ed Brown Products is celebrating 50 years of creating custom-grade 1911 handguns and components, and the company continues to roll out new models to commemorate the occasion. The latest handgun added to the lineup is the Ed Brown Executive Commander 1911, purpose-built to provide 1911 aficionados with a customizable, carry-ready platform.

“The addition of the Executive Commander is just another example of listening to our customers and offering the products they want," said John May, Ed Brown sales and marketing director. "We’ve been in the business of building the finest custom 1911 in the world for 50 years now."

As part of the company's Elite Series of handguns, the Executive Commander 1911 is constructed entirely from stainless steel and features a full-size frame paired with a shortened, Commander-length slide. The pistol features a 4.25-inch barrel, which was chosen to shorten the gun as much as possible without compromising the reliability of the gun's operation.

The stainless-steel frame includes exclusive 25 LPI checkering on the front strap and mainspring housing. In the standard model, each gun is equipped with a black rear sight and a gold-bead front sight. A number of custom options already included on the Executive Commander include a French border, ball endmill cuts, a flattened and serrated slide top and rear to reduce glare. A strong-side, tactical-profile thumb safety is also included to ensure rapid disengagement when needed. The overall length of the gun is 8 inches, and the height measures in at 5.5 inches.

The pistol can be had in 9 mm, .38 Super or .45 ACP. In addition to the standard custom options offered, Ed Brown also provides more than 100 other customization options on the gun, enabling consumers to tailor the pistol to their personal preferences. The suggested retail price on the Ed Brown Executive Commander 1911 starts at $3,395.
