With the increasing popularity of long-range shooting, a number of companies are adding new models designed to help precision shooters plink steel at extended distances. One of the latest releases in 2018 is the DoubleStar Star10-BX rifle chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. The company also expanded its caliber offerings to include the .260 Remington as well.
"Our new Star10-BX is not only a piece of art, but when you get on the range with it you will see why it is one of our favorites. It will easily rule any range, shooting match or hunting field," said Nick Collier, director of special operations for DoubleStar.
The rifle is constructed with upper and lower receivers machined from 7075 TC billet aluminum, which feature a hard-anodized finish for added durability. The receiver incorporates an optics-ready flattop upper, along with a built-in brass deflector and dust cover. In the lower receiver, consumers will find an integrated trigger guard along with an enhanced magazine well that promotes rapid reloading, ensuring that users can get back into action quickly.
Inside the gun, users will find a 3.5-pound trigger group from CMC Triggers, along with a bolt-carrier group that's nickel-boron coated to enhance lubricity and ensure that all the components are easy to clean. The rifle is built with a Bravo Company BCM Gunfighter Mod4 charging handle for easy support-side racking. Furniture-wise, the gun is equipped with an Ace Hammer adjustable buttstock and a Hogue pistol grip.
The DoubleStar Star10-BX's receiver is matched to a 22-inch stainless-steel heavy barrel that features a 1:8-inch rate of twist. The muzzle is crowned with the company's trademarked Bullseye muzzle brake to reduce recoil and enable shooters to stay on target for fast follow-up shots. The semi-automatic operating system is fed through a low-profile gas block, which is surrounded by a 15-inch Samson .308 Evolution handguard that allows for the attachment of light, laser and other accessories.
The overall length of the DoubleStar Star10-BX 6.5 Creedmoor rifle is 45.5 inches, and each gun ships with a single 20-round magazine. The suggested retail price on the rifle is $2,549.99.
