National Quality Award

MidwayUSA received its third Malcom Baldridge National Quality Award at a conference held April 3 to 6 at the Gaylord National Harbor Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, MD. The company was one of three firms to receive the prestigious honor this year, which is presented annually by the President of the United States. Manufacturing, service and small businesses, as well as health care, education and nonprofit organizations are eligible, although in the last 34 years the National Institute of Standards and Technology has selected only 124 receive the award.

Senior leaders and middle management from MidwayUSA attended the event. The company was a recipient of the award in 2009 and 2015, making it one of only two organizations to earn the award three times since the first award cycle in 1988. Past award recipients are eligible to apply for the award each five years after receipt.

“At MidwayUSA, we relentlessly pursue continuous improvement and performance excellence to satisfy and engage our customers, employees, suppliers and partners, and shareholders,” said Matt Fleming, president & CEO of MidwayUSA. “We are honored and thrilled to accept this award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence helps us achieve our vision to be the best-run business in America, and the most successful, most respected business in our industry, for the benefit of our customers.”

An awards ceremony was held April 3, followed by a variety of presentations including those keynoted by MidwayUSA’s Leadership Team on strategy, customers, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce and operations. The conference concluded with One Key Takeaway presentations from Baldrige Award Recipients, including a Fleming’s on “Customers Come First.”

MidwayUSA plans to apply for the award again in 2027 in accordance with the Baldrige National Quality Award eligibility cycle.
