The Kansas Highway Patrol is the latest law enforcement agency to approve the Steiner MPS (Micro Pistol Sight) for duty use. The red-dot optic is purpose-built to withstand the hard use and challenging field conditions encountered by defense professionals across the nation.

Borrowing the same performance and battle-proven engineering found in Steiner's tactical optics for military and law enforcement, the MPS is constructed around a rugged, all-metal housing with enhanced sidewalls and a sealed emitter. The MPS was also approved for use by several Texas law enforcement departments last fall.

The optic is compact—measuring 2.17 inches long—and weighs only 2.05 ounces. The 3.3 MOA dot has eight brightness levels, six daytime modes and another two that are night-vision compatible.

A recessed optic window and thick metal shroud protects the Steiner-quality lens from most direct impacts and the 1X magnification delivers a crisp, undistorted image for quick, both-eyes-open sight-picture acquisition. Additional features include a 13,000-hour battery life at the medium-brightness setting, user-selectable auto-off and multiple mounting options.

It is fog and waterproof down to 10 meters and capable of operating anywhere from -30 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s compatible with the ACRO footprint and the power source is a CR1632 battery, which is easily replaced without removing the optic from the pistol.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has nearly 300 sworn officers and another 280 civilian staff members. Together they protect and serve the state’s roughly 3 million residents and visitors from out of state.

The Steiner MPS was only introduced in late 2021. The relatively rapid approval by law enforcement departments—each required to conduct exhaustive testing the are issued and lives are on the line—speaks volumes about its performance and reliability.

The optic is another enclosed-emitter option available to red-dot enthusiasts. MSRP is currently $574.99.
