Kahr Arms announced it would be a silver-level sponsor for the 2017 NRA World Shooting Championship. The championship is taking place from Sept. 14-16, 2017 at the Peacemaker Training Center in West Virginia.

Kahr Arms will be represented at the shoot by Joby Goerges, a first-time shooter at the championship and the company's director of manufacturing and engineering for Magnum Research. The company will also be sending John "Tig" Tiegen, a member of the Kahr Firearms Group pro staff.

Teigen was involved in the defense of the American diplomatic compount in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11, 2012 when terrorists attacked the compound, killing four Americans. In recognition of his bravery, Teigen received the Award for Heroism and Valor. He is also the co-author of "13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi."

The NRA World Shooting Championships is a unique event where both amateur and professional shooters can come to compete in 12 different stages involving the use of pistols, rifles and shotguns. The match provides three days of challenging competition topped off by an awards banquet and the crowning of the title of "World Shooting Champion."

The professional division of the shooting championships is limited to those who receive financial support and services from a company for competitive-shooting activities, as well as those who have been part of a specialized firearms unit, such as SWAT or military groups. The amateur division is for shooters who do not have any affiliation with any professional shooting organization.

However, both groups must use the guns provided by the event hosts. No competitor may use their own personal firearms, gear and ammunition during the shoot, providing an extra level of challenge. More than $250,000 worth of cash and other prizes are up for grabs during the shoot, with separate prize tables for the professional and amateur divisions. First through third places win cash prizes for the event, as well as High Lady and High Amateur Junior shooters.
