Wilson Combat has just launched a new version of the SFT9 9mm metal framed single action pistol, the Wilson Combat SFT9 Lightrail, which has a railed Picatinny dust cover for use with mounted accessories. The Wilson Combat SFT9 is a full-size single action, double stack 9mm pistols with a 4.25-inch barrel that is built for EDC (every day carry). Double-stack 1911 pistols are currently experiencing a resurgence, and the Wilson Combat SFT9 Lightrail pistol is not your typical double stack gun. With its single-piece aluminum frame and sliding trigger, it has a different build style that sets it apart from your typical 1911 or 2011 pistol. Wilson Combat also use a different type of double stack magazine than is typically found in a 2011, which is keeping in-line with the company's aim in developing a gun which has the shootability and capacity of the typical double stack gun but without the added reliability issues and overly thick grip/frame.
SFT9 pistols resemble classic commander sized 1911s, albeit with a double stack magazine. The Colt Commander profile has been an ideal style for carry guns with its shorter 4.25 inch barrel and full size grip. The one piece aluminum frame only measures about 1.155 inches in width, much less than a 2011 with the two-piece frame. The frame itself is crafted from 7075 T6 aluminum and features Wilson Combat’s TRAK grip texture system that provides shooters with a means to better control the SFT9 during shooting. The SFT9 Lightrail uses a 4.25-inch match grade barrel that is expertly fitted to each slide by gunsmiths in Wilson Combat’s Berryville, Arkansas facility. These stainless steel slides are finished with a DLC (diamond like coating) and have been treated against any sharp edges or corners for better carry comfort.
