Walther has just launched a suppressor- and optics-ready version of the Walther WMP (Walther Magnum Pistol), the new Walther WMP SD. Just like the original WMP, it is chambered in .22 WMR, but this new model is equipped with a threaded barrel that uses the industry standard ½x28 tpi thread pattern that is popular with firearm suppressor manufacturers.
Walther WMPs are semi-automatic, polymer-frame pistols with aluminum slides that are designed to chamber and fire the .22 WMR cartridge. These full-size pistols feed rounds from 10- or 15-round capacity magazines and take after many of Walther’s other prominent centerfire pistol designs. This includes frames and grips with Picatinny accessory rails and ambidextrous slide releases. Although the Walther WMP SD is optics ready, it also includes an extremely practical fiber-optic front sight for non-optics shooting.
“With the popularity of suppressors and a continuous focus on safe, enjoyable shooting experiences, we knew having a threaded barrel option on the new WMP SD was the next enhancement needed,” said Jens Krogh, vice president of marketing and product development for Walther Arms, Inc. “Its versatility gives everyone what they’re looking for: a customizable firearm or one that’s ready right out of the box. Either way, the WMP SD can confidently handle any situation or adventure thrown your way.”
