True Knives has just begun offering a full-size utility knife, the new Maar Cleaver Flipper folding pocket knife. The Maar Cleaver Flipper employs a thick cleaver-like blade that also resembles a Wharncliffe blade profile. This more-blunt design is created to hold up better to more strenuous cutting tasks compared to more traditionally profiled blades which taper out towards the point. True Knives’ intent in creating the Maar Cleaver Flipper was to come up with a utilitarian locking and foldable knife that was easy to carry and yet well-suited and optimized for almost any cutting task. The business end of this knife is built from D2 Tool Steel and finished in a black oxide stonewash finish. The blade itself measures 3.5 inches in length. This knife is unique because while it has a classic, sturdy liner lock design to secure the blade, the mechanism also works in conjunction with ball bearings for smooth opening.
The Maar Cleaver Flipper’s handle is made from G10, a very strong resin material that’s popular for both handgun stocks as much as knife handles. Folded it’s only 5.5 inches long, and fully open it measures nine inches.
