STI International worked with self-defense trainer Chris Costa to produce a new collection of pistols named the Costa Series, designed with personal defense and duty use in mind. The new STI Costa HOST pistol is the latest from the company.
The Costa HOST pistol is ready for use straight from the box, featuring a Vortex Viper red-dot optic mounted to the slide. The gun also incorporates extra-high tritium-illuminated sights that allow users to see the irons through the optic window. The gun is also threaded for suppression, and the sights allow for clearance over the profile of a suppressor.
The Costa HOST pistol is built on the STI 2011 platform, which features a double-stack magazine and increased capacity while retaining the look and feel of the 1911 platform. According to the company, the 2011 design also works to reduce recoil through a better transfer of recoil along a flatter plane, providing shooters with increased control and the ability to fire faster follow-up shots.
The exterior of the gun features a unique TreeBark stippled grip that features a tan finish, along with a slim tactical magwell for smoother and faster reloading. The metal parts on the gun are finished with the company's Diamond-Like Carbon finish, which is designed to ensure durability against wear, tear and environmental stresses.
Other features of the gun include a 4.15-inch bull barrel which features a threaded muzzle that is sized to work with most aftermarket suppressors, along with an included thread protector. The Costa HOST pistol is also equipped with a Picatinny frame rail for accessory attachment, as well as STI's proprietary Recoil Master spring system.
The HOST pistol is available in 9 mm and .45 ACP. The guns ship with two magazines, one flush-fit and one extended magazine. In 9 mm, the flush-fit magazine holds 18 rounds, while the extended magazine holds 21. In .45 ACP, the flush-fit magazine holds 11 rounds, and the extended magazine holds 13.
The suggested retail price for the STI Costa HOST pistol is $3,499.
