Standard Manufacturing is teaming up with Bud’s Gun Shop to offer an engraved special edition of Standard Manufacturing’s SG 22 .22LR pistol. The engraving features rosette bouquet and scrollwork motifs while the external finish of these pistols is available in either a deep “royal blue” or the traditional bone and charcoal color-case hardening.
Standard Manufacturing makes each SG 22 rimfire pistol by hand in New Britain, CT, with a team of master gunsmiths. Standard Manufacturing outfits these rimfire pistols with a button-style magazine catch, select hardwood target stocks, a Patridge style front sight and fully adjustable, target-style rear sights.
The Standard Manufacturing SG 22 is based on John Moses Browning’s 1918 designed “Colt Woodsman,” one of the most classic 20th century semi-automatic rimfire .22 caliber pistols. These pistols were originally designed around outdoor sporting and target use and were typically outfitted with longer target barrels and target-style iron sights. Due to the weaker nature of .22 caliber rimfire ammo, these guns had short slides that reciprocated against larger fixed barrels and John Moses Browning included several design elements from some of his other pistols like the Colt Model 1903 and the Colt Model 1911. Throughout the years these were sold in configurations appealing to both hikers and target shooters, as well as being used by the United States during the Second World War.
