Smith & Wesson is introducing a new limited-edition pistol collection that pairs an M&P 2.0 Compact Spec Series 9mm handgun along with an M&P tactical folding knife. This limited-edition kit also includes a collectible M&P Spec Series challenge coin. M&P stands for “Military and Police” and is an important label in Smith and Wesson’s history. This moniker was first applied to the early versions of their six shot double action “K” frame revolvers in 1899.
The M&P 2.0 Spec Series is a compact, striker-fired polymer-frame handgun chambered in 9mm. The 2.0 series is the generational successor to the tried and true original line of M&P striker-fired semi-auto pistols. Unlike standard M&P 2.0 handguns, the handgun included in this kit leaves the factory with a bull-shark grey Cerakote finish along with an optics ready slide. The slide also has additional forward serrations that are not seen on standard M&P models. Since this handgun is intended for use with slide mounted electronic red dot sights, it includes 3-dot suppressor height iron sights. Rounds are placed accurately on target by means of its 1:10 twist 4.6-inch long barrel, which is also capped and threaded for use with a muzzle device or suppressor. To aid with accurate shooting, the pistol is also equipped with an M2.0 flat-faced trigger shoe. Three magazines are included in the kit: a standard 15 round flush fit magazine along with two 23 round spare magazines. The pistol’s frame also has a Picatinny accessory rail for use with lights, lasers or other devices.
The M&P Series liner lock tactical folding knife has a 3.87-inch blade that is made from high carbon stainless steel and has an Americanized tanto tip. Its aluminum rescue-style grip has a strap cutter and a ceramic glass-breaking bit. The pistol, knife and coin ship in a custom fit plastic case and the kit retails for $799.
