SIG Sauer is joining the modern ranch-rifle trend and throwing its entry in the semi-automatic carbine category in the ring with the new SIG Sauer MCX Regulator. This new “ranch” style rifle can be had in two popular intermediate rifle caliber options: 5.56 NATO or 7.62x39mm.
The new MCX Regulator is part of the SIG Sauer MCX Spear LT family of semi-automatic rifles and carbines that use a gas-operated piston system in their mechanism, as opposed to the traditional direct-impingement arrangement seen in the typical AR-pattern firearm. In the case of the new SIG Sauer MCX Regulator, this firearm foregoes the pistol grip and stock configuration and instead uses a lower receiver that’s modified to accept a traditional buttstock, like Magpul’s SGA stock. This gives citizens in ban states better access to modern carbines without running afoul of excessive (and unconstitutional) restrictions. The Regulator’s redesigned lower receiver is also backwards compatible with all other SIG Sauer MCX upper receiver groups.
“The heart and soul of this rifle is one of our flagship products - the legendary MCX,” said Tom Taylor, chief marketing officer and executive vice president, Commercial Sales, SIG Sauer, Inc. “This is the first time the DNA of an elite Special Forces battle platform, flawless function and a short stroke gas piston system has been specifically designed and visioned for the working rifle. At SIG, we don’t subscribe to the premise that it's acceptable to compromise for any purpose, including your working rifle and this rifle will revolutionize a day at the ranch or however you use your Regulator.”
The MCX-Regulator ships with a two-stage match trigger, a cold hammer-forged carbon steel barrel, a SIG designed muzzle brake, and is available in 7.62x39mm and 5.56 NATO chamberings. The MCX-Regulator offers a built in Arca Rail for easy tripod mounting and ships with a 10-round magazine.
