Following in the footsteps of the company's widely popular, commercial-variant of the military-issue M17, SIG Sauer announced the release of an all-new line of ammunition, loaded to military specifications and designed to function reliably in any +P-rated 9mm handgun, including the new SIG Sauer P320-M17.

“The commercial release of the civilian variant of the U.S. Army’s M17 pistol, the P320-M17, has been a tremendous success," said Brad Criner, senior director of brand management and business development for SIG Sauer Ammunition. "We are excited to have the opportunity to offer the M17 9mm +P to our customers who want to shoot an ammunition that combines high-quality SIG performance with a military-grade +P ammunition. The M17 V-Crown and FMJ loads are both ballistically-matched, making it easy for our customers to train with the ammunition they carry.”

Recent years have seen the introduction of ballistically matched ammo offerings like the new M17 lineup, giving consumers the confidence they need to know that their range-training will translate into improved performance with their personal-defense ammo of choice. SIG Sauer is one of the leaders in this category, with training and defensive ammo in the company's 365 ammo line and now the matched set of +P M17 ammo.

Each ammo load in the SIG Sauer M17 9mm lineup produces a muzzle velocity of 1,198 fps and a muzzle energy of 395 foot-pounds. The company's defensive ammunition offering, loaded with SIG V-Crown projectiles, offers a bullet with a stacked hollow-point cavity. This design enables the round to effectively transfer energy into a ballistic medium while offering significant expansion and maximum weight-retention. Both the hollow-point rounds and the FMJ rounds weigh in at 124 grains, ensuring identical ballistic performance and shooting experience.

The V-Crown-loaded rounds retail for $20.95 per box of 20 rounds, while the FMJ-loaded practice rounds sell at a suggested retail price of $18.95 per box of 50 rounds. All of SIG Sauer's Elite ammunition is loaded at the company's manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, AR.
