Onus Group, a startup company headed by noted firearms trainers Matt McGuire and Hunter Freeland, have just released its first product, the Glock MOS Optics Adapter Plate for the Trijicon RMR optics footprint.

Onus Group Glock MOS Optics Adapter Plates are built from 1018 steel and are finished with nitride coating. These plates have integrated front and rear pocket ledges to support the optics themselves. Onus Group also includes high-quality fasteners and manufactures its adapter places to tighter tolerances in order to produce a more unitized system. The adapter plate securely grips the optic to reduce the stress of recoil on screws and transmits that force to the slide, plate and optic body. This frees up the needless strain on screws and allows them to act as intended, fastening the optic to the slide.

While most optic screws used a T10 Torx size bit, Onus Group MOS Optics Adapter plate screws are upgraded to a larger Torx T15/IP15 size and rated to 140,000 psi, according to manufacturer specifications. The T10 M3 plate screws mate directly to the Glock MOS cuts on Glock slides and are also rated at a 140,000 psi tensile strength.

"When combined with the tolerancing and design improvements, we have found this optics adapter plate to be more durable and reliable under the stresses of hard use. Anyone who has dealt with factory optics footprints and optics knows how frustrating that can be, and as instructors, we get to see a larger sample size of guns and failures which provides us some insight into the recurring issues and specific failure points. After years of seeing these issues and feeling the sting for students in lost time and money wasted trying to fix a gun while they should be in class learning, we decided enough was enough,” said Matt McGuire.
