Berger Ammunition is introducing two new long-distance precision shooting bullets in 6.5 PRC and .300 PRC. Berger is known for offering long and sleek ELD (extreme low drag) projectiles to precision handloaders, and after this initial success, Berger began selling precision-loaded factory ammunition using Lapua brass and Vihtavouri propellants. All Berger bullets and loaded cartridges use Berger’s J4 bullet jackets, which are held to extremely high tolerances with a limit of less than .003 inches TIR (total indicated runout).

6.5 PRC 153.5-Grain Long Range Hybrid Target

The 6.5 PRC (Precision Rifle Cartridge) can be thought of as a magnum version of the popular 6.5 Creedmoor rifle cartridge. Berger designed the 153.5-grain Long Range Hybrid Target Rifle Bullet specifically for Precision Rifle shooters who want to get a little bit of a boost to engage targets at a little further of a distance than other 140- to 155-grain-class rifle bullets can provide. It features a jump-tolerant hybrid profile which makes it ideal for factory loaded ammunition. The bullet has been verified by doppler radar to have a less than one percent ballistic coefficient (BC) variation, which means tighter groups and more hits on target, especially at extended ranges. This design uses Berger’s Meplat Reduction Technology to ensure a high and consistent BC.

300 PRC 215-Grain Hybrid Target

The .300 PRC is a modern .30-caliber magnum cartridge similar to the 6.5 PRC in many ways. Berger Hybrid Target Rifle Bullets use a hybrid ogive profile which blends tangent and secant designs to optimize efficiency, reduce wind-drift and minimize sensitivity to seating depth. The Hybrid Target rifle bullets are competition proven and a favorite amongst today’s top long range competition shooters. The Hybrid bullet is made with J4 Precision Jackets, like all other Berger rifle bullets.

“Long-range competitive shooters and target shooting enthusiasts who have little time or desire to handload have insisted we craft ammunition offerings with the highest level of precision,” stated Berger President, Dan Thelen. “Our entire Berger ammunition line is now built from only the highest quality components available in the marketplace, providing peak performance for those without time at the reloading bench to build their own.”
