OF Mossberg and Sons, Inc. is now offering an optics-equipped version of their Mossberg 940 Tactical Pro semi-automatic shotgun. This new shotgun comes with a Holosun 407K compact electronic red dot sight already installed on the top of the receiver. Previous to this, the Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical shotgun came with a receiver already cut for an optic that matched the Shield RMSc footprint shipped with a removable protective plate. Both of these shotguns are also drilled and tapped in the more traditional manner so you can add other accessories.
The Mossberg 940 is the company’s flagship semi-automatic shotgun and is offered in many versions such as the competition focused Jerry Miculek edition, tactical models, turkey models, field models and waterfowl models. Like all 940 Pro shotguns, the Tactical Pro has corrosion-resistant internal parts. Its piston, magazine tube, hammer and sear are all coated in nickel-boron. The 940’s gas operated semi-automatic action can last 1,500 shells between cleanings.
The Tactical Pro model includes an 8-shot magazine tube along with an enlarged and beveled magazine port with an elevator that is designed to avoid pinching a shooter’s fingers. The 18.5 inch barrel is topped with a fiber optic front sight and is also threaded for Mossberg’s AccuChokes. Since this is a tactical shotgun, it ships with a cylinder choke that is useful for both tactical buckshot and slug ammunition. Stocks on Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical models are length-of-pull adjustable from 12.5 to 14.25 inches. Stock shims to adjust drop and cast are also included with these shotguns.
The Mossberg 940 Tactical Pro Optics Ready and the 940 Tactical Pro with the mounted Holosun 407K retail for $1,189 and $1,333 respectively.
