Holosun has unveiled the new HM6X, a flip up magnifier with a fixed six-power magnification level meant to be used in conjunction with a red-dot optic on a semi-automatic carbine. Adding a magnifier such as the new Holosun HM6X extends the effective range of red dot optics to ranges rivalling that of a low power variable optic, or LPVO.

The new HM6X is built with a 7075-T6 aluminum housing, and the included mount for this new Holosun magnifier connects to any Picatinny railed surface. The optic has the capacity to be set up for both right or left handed use and also has a quick release design so it can be easily removed if not needed.

Holosun HM6X Specifications:

  • Waterproof Rating: IP67 certified waterproof
  • Magnification Level: 6X
  • Field Of View: 3.7 degrees
  • Eye Relief: 65 mm /2.55 inches
  • Exit Pupil: 4.6 mm /.18 inches
  • Housing Material: 7075 T6 Aluminum
  • Dimension: 4.33 x 1.8 x 2.5 inches
  • Weight: 11 ounces

Holosun HM6X Features:

  • Flip to the side design
  • Compatible with absolute and lower 1/3-height witness
  • QD (Quick Detach) mount and spacer included

Red dot and flip up magnifier combinations are ideal for shooters who do not want or need the added complexity of an LPVO and shoot with their red dot sights for the majority of the time, with the occasional distance shots. Unlike scope reticles, it should be known that shooting with a magnifier does tend to also magnify and enlarge the size of red dot when viewed through the magnifier, so these are also not full replacements for traditional scopes or LPVOs.
