Federal Ammunition first released the 30 Super Carry cartridge during the early part of 2022. In general terms, this new pistol round is intended to compete against the venerable and universal 9mm cartridge in terms of energy and efficiency. Although the 30 Super Carry has a smaller size that allows for more magazine capacity, ballistically its .312-inch-diameter projectiles still deliver equivalent performance and energy as compared to the 9mm. Federal currently offers an American Eagle 100-grain target and practice round. For defensive purposes the company loads the 30 Super Carry with a 100-grain HST expanding jacketed hollow point bullet. This cartridge also includes a Federal Premium nickeled casing.
