First Spear Plate Backer

First Spear has begun to sell the new Padded Plate Backer kit, which consists of a pair of lightweight 10x12-inch cushioned inserts that are meant to bring comfort to those who wear body armor or a ballistic vest for extended periods of time. These inserts are manufactured from non-ballistic-rated foam and work by being placed beneath armor strike plates to absorb shock and reduce both pressure points or hot spots. In addition to providing comfort and reducing fatigue, First Spear also designed these foam inserts to have ventilation channels to make the entirety of the ballistic vest system have more airflow and increase ventilation. The First Spear Padded Plate Backer Kit is flexible, user friendly and configurable to fit a wide range of individual needs. Each Padded Plate Backer kit ships with two inserts that are cut in the same outline of most contemporary SAPI or swimmers-cut ballistic panels.

Aside from providing comfort to the wearer, all First Spear Padded Plate Backers are made from a durable foam material that is waterproof and resistant against bacterial or other micro-biological growth in order to stay in good working condition and reduce odors over the long haul. Since ballistic panels are designed to stop projectiles, they can oftentimes be bulky and uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, which is why First Spear started selling its padded cushioning kits.
