FAB Defense has started shipping the new Ultimag G2, a “windowless” detachable magazine manufactured from polymer that can hold 30 rounds of 5.56 NATO or .223 Rem. cartridges.
FAB Defense approached the Ultimag G2 as a new project, starting from scratch and designing this magazine from the ground up by talking into account past lessons and knowledge from the development of the original windowed FAB Defense Ultimag. The Ultimag G2 omits the original window and is designed with the requirements of both military and law enforcement end users in mind. The external body of the magazine features flat areas that are easy to mark for identification purposes. FAB Defense also upgraded the follower spring that’s standard on Ultimag G2s with an extended-life version that not only holds up to the rigors of daily use, such as wear and tear from shooting. Furthermore, the upgraded extended life spring on the Ultimag G2 is designed to fare better when it comes to loaded long term storage. In addition, the FAB Defense added a utilitarian high visibility follower for both safety and for last-round identification purposes. Finally, besides the flat marking areas on the exterior of the magazine, FAB Defense designed the Ultimag G2 with texturing making it easier to grip and control when handling magazines in challenging environmental conditions.
“After having 100 percent of our production dedicated to supporting the IDF and IPD forces since the October 7th invasion, we are excited finally to be able to offer the new Ultimag G2 to the public. With months of real-world combat use, we are confident that the improvements we have made to the original Ultimag serve our civilian users well,” stated Itay Goldenberg, marketing manager for F.A.B. Defense.
