Gunmaker Dan Wesson is known for their fleet of quality 1911 options which come in many different configurations. Now joining the fleet is the new Dan Wesson Specialist 1911 Pistol, with an optics-ready slide for only a few dollars more than the regular Specialist model. The new factory cut is supported by a selection of optics mounting plates for popular footprints such as the Trijicon RMR/SRO/Holosun, the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro/Shield RMS and the Viper/Docter red dot sights.
The Dan Wesson Specialist 1911 was originally conceived after various law enforcement agencies approached Dan Wesson about building them a duty grade 1911 tactical pistol, as the Dan Wesson Specialist includes a dust cover cut for an accessory rail. The gunsmiths at Dan Wesson figured that a 1911 that’s suitable for duty is also quite practical for personal home defense situations for everyone else, so they added the Specialist family to their product catalog. The new optics-ready Specialist, like the original Specialist pistols, combine the same fitted match-grade barrels, fitted slides and forged frames that the company has always been known for. Speaking of the frame, the frame found on the Optics-Ready 1911 is outfitted with ambidextrous safeties, 25 lines per inch (LPI) front strap checkering and an undercut trigger guard. The pistol ships with textured VZ Grips G10 stocks and two eight-round capacity .45 ACP magazines.
