CZ-USA is known for its selection of accurate and reasonably priced rimfire rifles, and now they are adding another entry to their lineup, the CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer (VPT) with a match grade MTR chamber. This bolt-action .22 LR rimfire rifle was designed to be shot and handled exactly as one would handle a full-size, modern centerfire precision-oriented bolt-action rifle, giving shooters an opportunity to practice the manual of arms for their larger guns and a much lower price per round.
The 16.2 inch cold hammer forged and the hand lapped barrel with a 1:16-inch right-hand twist bore are responsible for sending match grade .22 LR rimfire ammunition down range with top-level accuracy. In addition to its thicker varmint profile bull barrel, the CZ 457 VPT rifle is also suppressor ready, as the muzzle comes threaded from the factory for ½ x 28 tpi threads. The barreled action sits over a Manners carbon-fiber adjustable precision stock that can also accept an Arca rail. Like all other members of the CZ 457 rimfire rifle family, the Varmint Precision Trainer also comes with a five-round detachable magazine and has a fully adjustable trigger with an integrated 11 mm dovetail atop its receiver to mount your choice of optic.
CZ-USA’s “MTR”, or “Match Target Rifle” lineup also includes a different 457 variant known as the CZ 457 MTR. The claim to fame of the MTR line is the fact the chamber on each rifle is cut to the limit of CIP (the European version of SAAMI) .22 LR cartridge dimensions. As a result, this very tight match chamber reduces many of the variables needed to set up each shot for success. CZ made the decision to incorporate the MTR style chamber and combine it with a precision stock and varmint profile barrel to create a hyper-accurate precision ready rifle in the CZ 457 VPT MTR.
