With the introduction of the all-new Crimson Trace Laserguard for the Smith & Wesson SD and SDVE pistol series, owners of these budget-priced firearms now have access to a high-quality laser sight that works to enhance their personal-defense setup.

The Crimson Trace S&W SD and SDVE Laserguard is built to the same exacting standards as all of the company's other laser products, using a red-laser diode that produces a beam measuring 0.5-inch at 50 feet. The laser unit sits in an easily installed polymer housing designed to wrap around the trigger guard and mount securely to the Picatinny frame rail located at the front of the firearm.

The Crimson Trace Laserguard designed for the S&W SD and SDVE handguns uses the same Instinctive Activation technology featured in all of the company's Laserguard laser sights. This system provides users with a pressure-activated pad located just beneath the trigger guard on the front strap of the firearm. Once a secure firing grip is obtained, the finger pressure on the activation pad provides instantaneous laser aiming without any extra steps required.

For those who prefer to leave the laser off while obtaining a firing grip, the laser module offers an on/off master switch that keeps the laser deactivated while shooting. Other user-adjustable features include windage and elevation adjustments that allow users to set a custom zero for their personal-defense pistol. Each Crimson Trace Laserguard is zeroed at 50 feet straight from the factory.

Inside the rugged polymer housing, a 1/3N lithium battery provides more than 4 hours of run time. An added benefit of this S&W SD and SDVE Laserguard is its coverage under the company's "Free Batteries for Life" program. With this support, users receive free replacement batteries for the full service life of their laser sight.

The Crimson Trace LG-457 Laserguard model fits the Smith & Wesson SD9, SD40, SD9 VE and SD40 VE handguns. The suggested retail price on the Crimson Trace Laserguard for S&W SD and SD VE series handguns is $229.
