CCI Ammunition has just added six new centerfire-pistol shotshells under the Hevi-Bismuth product line. These new centerfire-pistol cartridges are completely lead free thanks to a combination of bismuth shot and Catalyst lead-free primers. As a result, the new CCI Ammunition Hevi-Bismuth centerfire shotshell pistol loads adhere to all American non-toxic ammunition requirements. These types of cartridges are intended to yield effective shot patterns at short ranges in order to eliminate pests, while still taking advantage of the portability of a handgun.
CCI Ammunition Hevi-Bismuth centerfire shotshell loads are available in the following handgun calibers: 9mm, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. As specialty ammunition, these cartridges are packaged in sets of 10 rounds. Loaded with very small size shot, typically #9 to #12 birdshot, the shot in these cartridges is fully contained in a plastic “capsule” that grips the rifling and keeps the shot together as it travels down the bore. CCI Ammunition loads these shotshells into non-reloadable aluminum casings, and the capsule material is made from clear-blue plastic. CCI pistol shotshells are very easily identifiable and simple to distinguish from conventional ammunition. Due to their smaller sized compared to shotgun shotshells and also because of the limitations of a handgun, the effective range of these is approximately 10 feet or less.
“You do not get to choose when or where you will encounter dangerous, damaging pests, but you will always be prepared to take them out with our Hevi-Bismuth centerfire handgun shotshells,” said Chris Laack, CCI’s Handgun Product Manager. “They are loaded with Hevi-Bismuth pellets alloyed and cast in Sweet Home, OR, by our affiliate company, Hevi-Shot Ammunition, and it is the best bismuth shot in the industry. This product is intended for those required to use lead-free options.”
