Armasight Illuminator

Northbrook, IL, based Armasight, a company known for its specialized thermal and night vision optics and accessories, is now showcasing its brand new Watchman Illuminator. The infrared beam thrown by the Watchman is invisible to the naked human eye, but is useful for pointing at targets and tracking prey under night vision conditions, similar to a laser during visible light conditions.

The Armasight Watchman Illuminator is built on an aluminum chassis and works both as a handheld unit and as a mounted firearm accessory (a 30mm ring mount is included with each purchase) and is IP67 dust and waterproof rated for ruggedness. The Watchman’s illumination capability extends out to 500 yards. The unit has three different brightness settings and its beam can be adjusted from a three degree all the way up to a 14-degree field of view. As with many other tactical white lights, the Watchman has a push button tail cap that can easily be exchanged for a tape switch for use in different tactical scenarios. Because the Watchman’s infrared beam is invisible to the human eye, Armasight implemented a small, discreet red indicator light found on the unit’s tail cap indicating whether the Watchman’s beam is activated. This feature is an easy way to signal whether the unit was left on and can potentially prevent users from needlessly draining the battery.

  • Power-on, red light indicator on tailcap
