Springfield Armory is releasing the new 1911 Operator 9mm, a 1911 pistol with a feature set that appeals to people who expect their pistol to perform on-demand. This new pistol builds on the 100-year plus legacy of the 1911 and Springfield Armory's reputation for making solidly built pistols used by all types of gun owners, all over the world.
“Springfield Armory 1911 pistols are renowned for their performance, strength and capabilities,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing. “And with the popular Operator pistol now available in 9mm, shooters have a new option with this duty-grade premiere defensive pistol.”
The 1911 Operator was previously released in .45 ACP, and the new 9mm version features everything that made the original gun a popular choice for anyone looking for defensive-oriented 1911. Just like the original 1911 Operator, the 9mm version has a rear/tritium front sight set, rugged G10 VZ Grips, forward slide serrations, ambidextrous safety and comes two magazines with bumper pads with increased capacity of nine rounds due to the 9mm chambering of the pistol versus the larger-diameter .45 ACP rounds of its predecessor.
The pistol has a rugged, low-key black Cerakote finish on its forged steel slide and frame, ensuring both protection against the elements and the durability to go the distance. The frame has an integrated Picatinny accessory rail on the dustcover that allows users to equip the pistol with the light, laser or combo unit of their choice.
The 5-inch long fully supported, ramped, match-grade barrel is made from forged stainless steel for both durability and ruggedness and is designed to deliver both long barrel life and downrange performance. The Operator also features a traditional barrel bushing for ease and simplicity and to provide users with tool-free takedown in the field.
MSRP for the 9mm 1911 Operator is $1,184, and more information on this pistol and other products from Springfield Armory is available at springfield-armory.com.
