Federal Premium won the contract to supply the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) with up to 28 million .223 Rem. cartridges over the next five years. The Federal Premium Law Enforcement Tactical Bonded 62-grain soft-point loads will be issued for duty to the more than 20,000 law enforcement and support personnel DHS, ICE has working in more than 400 offices in the United States and abroad.

“Law enforcement and federal agencies put it all on the line for our safety and freedoms,” said Federal Ammunition President Jason Vanderbrink. “They should expect nothing less from their ammunition. We are proud to provide the highest quality duty ammunition to ICE agents in the field. Federal Premium Law Enforcement provides the top-quality products officers and agents need to have full confidence in any situation. Tactical Bonded has a long history of providing trusted performance time and time again for our nation’s law enforcement.”

The projectile—the Tactical Bonded 62-grain soft point؅—delivers accuracy, terminal performance and the ability to pass through tough barriers with minimal deviation. The reliability is a critical asset as DHS, ICE conducts its criminal investigation, immigration, national security and public safety duties.

Federal Premium’s long history of providing ammunition for law enforcement isn’t limited to long guns, either. In 2018, for example, DHS, ICE selected the company’s .40 S&W Tactical HST Duty load. Last year the firm, in partnership with Speer, was also awarded a contract with the FBI to provide handgun loads.

The value of this latest Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract with DHS, ICE was not immediately available. Terms for the Strategically Sourced agreement include supplying all DHS components, including other federal agencies, with a maximum quantity of 28 million rounds over the next five years.
