The new Colt Combat Unit Carbine is built on the company's tried-and-true M4 platform, but the newest option in the lineup features the company's first-ever mid-length gas system.

“Producing a mid-length gas system was the logical next-step for us, and it’s long overdue,” said Justin Baldini, director of product marketing for Colt. “Shooters will find that by moving the gas block closer to the muzzle as this mid-length gas system does, the felt recoil is more constant with what is fielded by our troops carrying a 14.5-inch barrel M4.”

The Combat Unit Carbine was developed with input from the company's Combat Unit, a team of sponsored shooters and advisers consulted to determine what is necessary in a rifle platform for modern-day military, law enforcement and firearms owners.

In addition to the mid-length gas system, the carbine features a Magpul SL butt stock and pistol grip and an MOE trigger guard. The gun also features a low-profile gas block and a Centurion CMR free-floated fore end with M-LOK compatibility.

The Colt Combat Unit Carbine is available exclusively from TALO Distributors and will sell at a suggested retail price of $1,299.
