Low-power variable optics (LPVOs) have become increasingly popular options for today's modern sporting rifles like the AR-15, since the construction of these variable riflescopes provide the magnification range needed to cover the effective range of some of the most-popular cartridges used in AR-style rifles, like the 5.56 NATO. LVPOs are generally constructed with a true, 1X magnification at the lower end, and the optics have often been seen in 1-4X configuration. However, in recent years, optics manufacturers have expanded their offerings in an effort to provide more capability to owners of these rifle platforms, rolling out 1-6X or even 1-8X options. Given the advent of cartridges with increased ballistic capability, like the 224 Valkyrie, these higher-magnification optics ensure that there's a do-it-all riflescope that provides the magnification range needed to go from close-quarter engagements to long-range precision shooting with the turn of a power ring. Check out these new LVPOs here:

Burris | RT-8

Available in front-, rear- and dual-focal-plane models, the latest entry to the RT line combines fast target acquisition at close and intermediate ranges with 8X magnification and 600 yards of trajectory compensation. Three illuminated-reticle modes allow shooters to adapt to changing shooting conditions on the fly.
