5.11 Tactical presented a check for $20,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund during an Oct. 23 ceremony at the annual Association of Chiefs of Police conference. The funds were raised as part of the company’s "Always Be Ready" campaign through the sales of its Defender-Flex Pants and Jeans.

The fund was established in 1984 and the non-profit organization’s website explains its mission is, “…to tell the story of American law enforcement and to make it safer for those who serve.” It’s also the principal organizer of National Police Week and accompanying candlelight vigil for fallen officers, which take place annually in May. The staff also maintains a comprehensive list of officers killed in the line of duty to honor and remember their sacrifice.

“I have always greatly admired the way the Memorial Fund pays tribute to the fallen and works to tell their stories,” said Jolie Gentry Macias, a Newark, CA, Lieutenant and SWAT team member working with 5.11 in its efforts to expand support for those who wear a badge. “On a daily basis, law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to protect and serve their communities—it’s reassuring to know that National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is there to honor these brave men and women in the event a casualty takes place on duty. 5.11 has been a great partner over the years, and I am honored to be a part of their contribution to the Memorial Fund.”

“We are very fortunate to have partners like 5.11 who step up to support and honor the men and women who valiantly serve the citizens in their communities each day,” said Memorial Fund President and CEO Craig Floyd.

In September 2017,  5.11 donated another $20,000 to the Sheepdog Survival Fund, an organization that helps underwrite training for those in uniform—lifesaving instruction that often isn’t otherwise available due to budgetary constraints. The money was also raised through the company’s "Always Be Ready" campaign.
