In Wilson Combat's line of defensive handgun ammunition, you will find several loads utilizing Hornady XTP bullets. Though often criticized for limited expansion and excessive penetration, this 115-grain bullet loaded in the .38 Super offers reasonably balanced terminal performance. Exiting the muzzle at more than 1,300 fps, it makes the inside of a gel block look like mush. Sure, this bullet, which was designed for a 9 mm, sheds weight when impacting at high velocities, but it still penetrated to the FBI's 12-inch minimum.
