3-Gun Nation has made its presence felt in the region lately, and is offering some great entertainment for regional firearm enthusiasts. In partnership with Virginia International Raceway (VIR), 3-Gun Nation has planted its flag at the historic racing venue, which also features a world-class shooting facility.
3-Gun Nation (3GN) is a competition shooting organization for the sport of 3-Gun. 3-Gun is rooted in a practical shooting discipline for both novice, amateur participants and professionals alike. This week will feature two televised 3GN Pro Series events as well as a local 3GN Club Series event this weekend. The 3GN Pro Series features six professionals per event in a elimination-style format between three courses of fire. Each event is filmed for television release on MAVTV, owned and operated by Lucas Oil Products.
The Pro Series events will take place Wednesday, April 20th and Thursday, April 21st, beginning at approximately 7:30 PM. "The Pro Series is unique in that the format is made-for-tv, with high-stakes on each course of fire," said 3GN Vice President Chad Adams. "Each course features an eliminator, where the bottom contestants have one last chance to move on into the next round. When the smoke clears, only two competitors advance into the championship event held at VIR in October."
The Pro Series is a shooting competition, with a TV Production in tow. "The Pro Series is made-for-tv and pre-recorded," said Pete Brown, 3GN President. "Watching a Pro Event is also watching all the behind-the-scenes production staff working to make an entertaining production. There's a lot of moving parts."
But the TV show is not the only way 3GN is making its presence felt at VIR. The 3GN Club Series is a national network of shooting ranges across the country that run local 3-Gun events under the 3GN membership framework, and VIR is the premiere club of this series. This month's club event, sponsored by local firearm manufacturer REV-Arms, will be held April 23rd and 24th and is open to any member of 3-Gun Nation. 3GN membership is $45, however membership to the first event is waived for those looking to get their feet wet.
"We endorse getting experienced and knowledgeable with your equipment before signing up for a match, however the club series is welcome to newcomers and everyone is helpful to new participants who want to give it a try," said Brown.
