Smith & Wesson recently introduced the newest edition to the Shield line of pistols, the M&P Shield Plus, which boasts a capacity of 13+1 rounds in a slim, micro-compact frame. The new Shield Plus is chambered in 9 mm and offered in several different configurations, including a Performance Center model with optics cuts, upgraded sights, and more.

The Shield Plus utilizes a flush-fit, 10-round magazine and an extended 13-round magazine, which maximizes capacity while keeping similar dimensions to the original Shield. The 10-round magazine also helps with compliance in certain states. A flat-face, bladed-safety trigger gives users a consistent trigger press, allowing for improved and repeatable accuracy. Meanwhile, S&W's enhanced grip texture improves upon the M2.0 design with a more balanced stippling that allows users to manage recoil, keep a firm grip, and not irritate skin when carrying concealed.

The M&P9 Shield Plus offers two versions: one with a manual safety and one without a separate safety. Three-white dot sights are standard in the current configuration, and optics-ready versions will be available through Performance Center offerings.
