Long known for its line of dedicated hunting blades, Buck Knives continues to respond to increased consumer demand for purpose-built blades designed as ideal utility tools for everyday carry. One of the company's latest options, based on the company's classic 112 Ranger knife, is the all-new 112 Ranger Slim Pro.

Located at the top of the company's product line, Buck Knives Pro options are loaded with higher-end features that serve to increase durability and ensure continued working order, even when confronted with the rigors of daily use. The 112 Ranger Slim Pro features a clip-point blade made from S30V stainless steel, a premium-quality blade steel with a particular kind of chemistry that ensures an even distribution of vanadium carbides. This provides a harder, more-durable blade steel that is easily honed and remains sharp, even with repeated, rigorous use.

However, the quality of this blade steel is such that it significantly impacts the price of these EDC blades. For a more-affordable option that still provides users with a durable, corrosion-resistant blade for daily carry, Buck Knives also offers options in its Slim Select line of knives, which incorporate many similar features, but the blade is constructed with 420HC steel rather than S30V.

Each model of the company's 112 Ranger Slim Pro can be had with either Micarta or G10 fiberglass-laminate grips that provide a durable, weather-resistant, textured finish for added control. It's the slim profile of the handles that distinguish this new lineup from the original model, which incorporated thicker scales. The knife also incorporates a thumb stud for easy opening and secures solidly in its deployed configuration, thanks to the built-in lockback mechanism. Other features on this knife include a reversible pocket-carry clip made from stainless steel, as well as the company's Edge2x blade technology, which provides a sharp, cutting blade straight from the box that both stays sharp longer and resharpens easier than other comparable pocket knives.

The overall blade length of the Buck Knives 112 Ranger Slim Pro knife is 3 inches, and the knife weighs in at 2.8 ounces. Each knife is made in the USA, and the suggested retail price on Pro-Series knives made with S30V blade steel starts at $100. The Slim-Select series of knives, complete with 420HC stainless-steel blades, retails at a starting MSRP of $38.
